Lil Nas X Returns With New Song “J CHRIST”
American rapper Lil Nas X returned with a new song “J CHRIST” on January 12, 2024.
The song is his first music in two years since “Star Walkin'”, which was released as the anthem for 2022 League of Legends World Championship in 2022.
The song is inspired by Jesus. It was written by Blake Slatkin, Mike Levy, Montero Hill, and Omer Fedi. Produced by Lil Nas X, Omer Fedi, Gesaffelstein.
The accompanying music video was directed by Lil Nas X. This marks his directorial debut.
The visual opens with a flock of people marching up the stairway to heaven, including celebrity lookalikes with Taylor Swift, Barack Obama, Oprah, Kanye West, and Ed Sheeran.- Lil Nas X‘s team explained the story behind the music video in a press release, “The gleefully subversive 'J CHRIST' visual sees Nas slaying both the gates of heaven (alongside some major celebrity cameos) and the fires of hell. After an inner battle plays out, he claims victory over evil and chooses his path forward, the path of faith, and sails through a flooded rapture.”
The team continued, “As for those doubting which direction Lil Nas X has chosen, he proudly proclaims ‘THIS WAY,’ choosing to express his spirituality in his own way.
