  • Dolly Parton Releases First Rock Album “Rockstar”

  • American country music singer-songwriter Dolly Parton released her forty-ninth solo studio album “Rockstar” on November 17, 2023 via Butterfly Records and Big Machine Records.

The album is her first rock album and a collaborative project with a variety of rock musicians.
Dolly Parton was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.
But initially, when she was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, she declined the honor as she has a background in country music and not rock.
At that time, Dolly Parton said, “I don't feel I have earned the right. I really do not want votes be split because of me, I must respectfully bow out. I do hope that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to consider me again - if I'm ever worthy.”
She added, “This has, however, inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock 'n' roll album at some point in the future, which I have always wanted to do!”
So, she made her first foray into that genre and released the rock album.
  • The album comprises 30-track, featuring guest appearances from Richie Sambora, Sting, Steve Perry, Ann Wilson, Howard Leese, John Fogerty, Kid Rock, Steven Tyler, Warren Haynes, Stevie Nicks, Waddy Wachtel, Peter Frampton, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Chris Stapleton, Miley Cyrus, P!NK, Brandi Carlile, Kevin Cronin, Debbie Harry, Elton John, Melissa Etheridge, Lizzo, Linda Perry, Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow, Pat Benata, Neil Giraldo, Michael McDonald, Ronnie McDowell, The Jordanaires, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Mick Fleetwood, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Artimus Pyle Band.
Produced by Dolly Parton, Kent Wells, and Mark Needham.

  • Dolly Parton said of the album, “I am very honored and privileged to have worked with some of the greatest iconic singers and musicians of all time and to be able to sing all the iconic songs throughout the album was a joy beyond measure.”
She continued, “I can't tell you how proud I am of the 'Rockstar' album and I can't tell you how happy I am that it's finally here to be released! I really had a wonderful time working with all these iconic artists on the record and all these iconic musicians. Not to mention all these great iconic songs that I think everybody will love hearing again. I just hope you enjoy my version of them!”
