  • Zak Abel Performs “Cry” on The Graham Norton Show

  • British singer-songwriter Zak Abel appeared on The Graham Norton Show to perform “Cry”.

The song is featured on his sophomore album “Love Over Fear”, which was released back in August.
The track was written by Zak Abel, Nick Ruth, and Fiona Bevan.
Zak Abel said of the song, “So I was thinking about how the opposite of happiness isn't in my opinion, isn't sadness, it's numbness. And a friend of mine was going through a really, really difficult time and he was feeling really numb, he just wasn't feeling anything at all. And I was like Okay, I feel like the most compassionate thing I could do for my friend at this point is to make him cry, which seemed like a really weird thought, like you never want to say, I want to make you cry from, that seems like quite a spiteful thing. And I thought it would be interesting to write a song to say I want to make you cry from a compassionate point of view. Basically, I just wanted him to feel something. Because that, that to me was the first step in kind of him starting feel better. And so I really wanted to put that down in a song and I did. And it's called Cry.”
  • He shared on social media, “I remember the day i wrote 'Cry' thinking "wouldnt it be great to play this song on The Graham Norton Show and it actually happened. As if that wasn't enough, what an honour to be on such a star-studded couch with Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Joan Collins, Layton Williams and Ralph Fiennes. This was a huge moment for me, feeling extremely grateful.”
