Simple Plan Teams Up With JAX for New Version of “Iconic”
Canadian rock band Simple Plan, consisting of Pierre Bouvier (lead vocal), Chuck Comeau (drums), Sébastien Lefebvre (rhythm guitar) and Jeff Stinco (lead guitar), teamed up with American singer-songwriter Jaclyn Miskanic, aka JAX to release a new version of “Iconic” on October 13, 2023.
The original version of the song is featured on the sixth studio album Harder “Than It Looks”, which was released last May.
The track was written by Pierre Bouvier, Chuck Comeau, Travis Clark and Jaclyn Miskanic. Produced by Brian Howes, Pierre Bouvier and Jason 'JVP' Van Poederooyen.
The accompanying music video filmed by Anna Lee, Skyler Barberio, Josh Kim and Braverijah Gregg.
Simple Plan said of the song, “We had an awesome time working with Jax on this! We're huge fans and and we're stoked you finally get to hear her incredible verse! So rad to watch all our favorite moments from the last 2 years of touring around the world, all in one video! Iconic got a little more iconic and we hope you love it!”
- The band told Apple Music about the original version of the song, “Almost every album of ours has a song where it's like, 'What the hell's that doing there?' And for this one, we tried to get ourselves in a frame of mind of writing a song for when a team comes out on the field. Imagine sports highlights, where you see all the tackles and all the rough parts. It's almost like we wrote a song for a documentary about a team of underdogs that made it to the top. And that team could be Simple Plan: I feel like our band has always had a chip on our shoulder. We've had great success; however, we've always had a healthy bit of headroom to aim for that Green Day level of being the biggest band in the world.”
