Dean Lewis Releases New Song “Trust Me Mate”
Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis released a new song “Trust Me Mate” on September 29, 2023.
The song is the second single off of his upcoming third studio album, following “In A Perfect World” with American singer-songwriter Julia Michaels.
On the track, Dean Lewis worked with producer Jon Hume, who previously worked with Dean Lewis' singles such as “Be Alright”, “Hurtless” and “How Do I Say Goodbye?”.
Dean Lewis said of the song, “We were in Los Angeles, and it was probably the most stressful song we've ever had to write. It took us about five days to write it, there were so many choruses and verses and we just spent a lot of time perfecting it. But we're both really proud of it, because similar to our other songs, it really means something to the both of us, and we think it will really resonate with others who are going through a hard time.”
The accompanying music video was directed by Luke Shaw and Landon Juern.
- Dean Lewis shared on social media, “My new song 'Trust Me Mate' comes out. It took me a long time to write it and put it all together, and it was incredibly emotional to write. It's about how I have felt at different times in my life. One minute I felt like I was on top of the world, and then at other times I felt like giving up. When everything seems dark and hopeless, and I'm filled with negative thoughts, my friends and family are my light. It's dedicated to all my friends and family who have helped along the way and held me up. I also wrote it about some of my friends who I have picked up off the floor. In Australia there is a term we use for friends where we will say 'trust me mate' before we say how good or bad something is. I only want to write songs that mean something to me. This one means a lot and I hope it helps you too. And for anyone who is struggling right now... trust me mate you've got this x”
