Kesha Releases New Song “Only Love Can Save Us Now”
American singer-songwriter Kesha will release her upcoming fifth studio album “Gag Order” this Friday (May 19th).
From the album, she unveiled the third single called “Only Love Can Save Us Now” on May 17, 2023.
The track was written by Kesha Sebert, Ajay Bhattacharyya, and Jussi Karvinen. Produced by Kesha Sebert, Stint, Jussifer, Cory Henry, and Rick Rubin.
Kesha shared on social media, “I have had an overwhelming dichotomy of emotions, oscillating between pain and love. Chaos and love. Fear and love. I wanted my song 'Only Love Can Save Us Now' to sonically, lyrically, and emotionally reflect the severity of my mental pendulum swings. The world is so overwhelming sometimes. It requires a moment of surrender. The ludicrosity of life can make you crazy. If anything, IF ANYTHING, can save us, I believe only love can. This song is a desperate and angry prayer. A call to the light when all feels lost.”
- She first previewed the song on CBS “60 Minutes” episode back in January.
At that time, she said of working with producer Rick Rubin, “Working with him has been genuinely life changing. He gave me, like, homework assignments. I was writing a song and I couldn't articulate what I needed to say. And he was like, 'Go home and write a full essay about everything you need to say until you can't write anymore.' And then the song kinda started forming itself. He was like, 'I just wanna make good music.' And I was like, that's so crazy.”
The new album comprises 13-track and is her first body of work in three years since the 2020 album “High Road”.
Kesha told The Guardian about the album, “The ones that I want to never talk about, that I never want to share with the greater public. The ones that are more scary, and more vulnerable, and more insecure. I share a lot of ugly emotions on this album.”
