  • Alicia Keys Releases New Orchestral Version of “If I Ain't Got You” featuring Queen Charlotte's Global Orchestra

  • American singer-songwriter Alicia Keys released a new orchestral version of her 2004 smash hit “If I Ain't Got You” with an orchestra featuring over 70 women of colour on May 3, 2023.

She re-recorded the song for the Netflix series “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story”, which was released on May 4, 2023.
The film was directed by Tom Verica. The series is a prequel spin-off of the Netflix series “Bridgerton” and consists of six episodes.
The original version of the song was released from her second studio album “The Diary of Alicia Keys” in 2004.
The orchestra is led by South Africa's first Black female conductor Ofentse Pitse.
On the accompanying music video, Alicia Keys and the musicians performed in Bridgerton-era costumes.
Alicia Keys said, “'If I Ain't Got You' re-imagined with this 70-plus piece Global Orchestra made up entirely of women of color is SOOOO crazzzy! I had REAL tears in my eyes when we recorded this! How does this song keep doing this? I'm so grateful to you, for loving this like I do!”

Alicia Keys told Billboard, “The entire idea was quite ambitious. I feel like it's going to open the minds of many people to realize that women of color belong everywhere and we've always been everywhere. It's magical.”
She continued, “I know they're gonna be very emotional when they see it because the women who were there were extremely emotional. Our conductor [Ofentse Pitse] said, 'It feels like when we have an orchestra of all women of color from all over the world, that we're finally doing something right.' This is what our ancestors never experienced.”
