Leanne Hoffman Releases New Song “Pity Party”
Canadian singer-songwriter Leanne Hoffman released a new song “Pity Party” along with a music video on April 27, 2023.
The song is the second single off of her upcoming sophomore album “The Text Collector”, which ix expected to be released in 2023.
The track is one of 365 poems, which were written by Leanne Hoffman for the album over the course of the year.
It was written by Leanne Hoffman, Erin Costelo, Isabella Manganiello, Annina Bergman, and Nicco Sanchez. Produced by Erin Costelo, Leanne Hoffman, and Nicco Sanchez.
The accompanying video was directed by Alexa Fay.
“Everyone knows someone that always seems to be bringing the good vibes down. No matter what, they just aren't happy, especially if everyone else is,” Leanne Hoffman explained. “I think it can be really tiring to deal with someone like that, so I wanted to write something fun and unbothered - something to say, 'You're not going to ruin this for me.' Basically, this is a "fuck you" song you can dance to!”
- The new album is her first project in four years since the 2019 album “What Remains”.
Leanne Hoffman said of the album, “This whole project was born from 365 poems that I wrote over the course of the year, and many of them came from words I cut out of books. Both the poetry collection and album of songs are titled The Text Collector. I wanted to continue the life cycle of those poems, and make them into something completely different.”
She continued, “A lot of time has passed since writing the poetry and then turning it into lyrics, so I've found that some of the songs on this album have a completely different meaning than before. I like how intimate poetry can be, and in contrast, I love how accessible and open pop music can be.”
