  • Grace Carter Releases New Song “Bloodwar”

  • Back in February, London-based singer-songwriter Grace Carter returned with “Pick Your Tears Up” for the first time in two years.

Following the the song, she released a brand new song called “Bloodwar” along with a music video on April 14, 2023.
She wrote the song in 2014. The track was written by Grace Carter, Olaniyi Akinkunmi, and Moses Samuels.
Grace Carter said of the song, “’Bloodwar’ is a song I wrote when I was 17. I wrote it at a time when I was really struggling with the impact of growing up with an absent parent and unanswered questions. Although I’m no longer in that space and have grown so much from those emotions this song has always been so important to me and when I listen to it, it reminds me of how far I have come!”
She continued, “I’ve had it on my setlist for years and its always felt so strange that a song that has played such a huge part in my personal and artistic journey has never been released. So with my tour coming up it felt like the right time to put it out into the world.”
  • Grace Carter shared on social media, “I've been nervous about putting this one out, I said in my post a while back that I felt like I lost control of telling my own story for a while. It felt like it wasn't mine anymore. I don't want anyone to listen to this song and think it's where I'm at my life right now but I also don't want to pretend that the themes I explore in the song are not things that have had a lasting effect on the way I live my life, and the person I have become today. Childhood informs so much of your life and the way you navigate it, you can either fall victim to it or you can grow from it and songwriting was something I discovered at the age of 12 as a cathartic way to process my emotions.”

  • She added, “The fact that it has become my career is wild but the thing I am most proud of is how far I've come in my journey of finding strength and becoming the person I always wanted to be. I have found so much power in standing by my emotions and being patient with them. I know a lot of you feel similar things and this is a song I have foured for years and have felt first hand the connection we share within it. I hope those of you that need it find some peace in this one... This is about reclaiming truth and paver, I am who I am because of what I've been through and for that I am so grateful....”
