Fly By Midnight Releases New Album “Fictional Illustrations”
Los Angeles-based alt-pop duo Fly By Midnight, consisting of Justin Bryte and Justin Slaven, released their fourth studio album “Fictional Illustrations” along with a new music video for “Infinitely Falling” on March 24, 2023.
The album comprises 10-track, written by Bizness Boi, Brett Truitt, Derek Fuhrmann, Derelle Rideout, Haywood, Jason Saenz, Justin Bryte, Micah Gordon, Mokita, Nick Bailey, Slavo and Zac Lawson, produced by Slavo.
The accompanying video was directed by Danny Mitri and Alyona Shchasnaia.
The duo shared on social media, “Our fourth studio album 'Fictional Illustrations' is out now. We've learned to embrace our role as writers differently than ever before on this record.”
They continued, “Practically growing up together now, it's really beautiful to see the sort of creative direction we've taken and grown towards for this new wave of music. A lot of mature ground being tread on that we probably wouldn't have wrote about on previous records. We hope it becomes the soundtrack to this very specific time in your life.”
- The duo explained about some tracks for the album.
“We wrote this one with summer in mind. something beautifully nostalgic about being hung up on someone who has no intention of reciprocating. Directed by yours boys on a 12 hour shoot throughout Los Angeles. so much love to our team for sweating through it with us. hope it puts a smile on your face.”
“What If I Wasn't Done Loving You?”
“It's hard not to live in the past sometimes. One decision could change your entire life. Would you still be together if you didn't leave? We're continually inspired to write songs that explore emotions that are complicated and sometimes difficult to understand.”
“It's a song we wrote on a Sunday we had off in Nashville. That city has brought some of our favorite fly by tracks to life and this is no different. Each song off this upcoming record feels like a new shade of creativity for us. Hope you feel the same.”
“Why My Love (Ain't Enough)”
“We approached writing 'Why My Love (Ain't Enough)' through the lens of our younger selves first exploring feelings for someone and not feeling adequate enough. It's one of our favourite storytelling songs we've ever released and feels like the perfect last single before the full-length record comes out.”
“The most romantic song we've ever written is yours just in time for the most romantic time of the year. We started writing this one during a trip to Nashville earlier in the year. months and months later we reopened it in LA & knew we had to release it. It's arguably the closest we've ever created to a 'true love song'. No heartache or longing. Just romance in its earliest form. there's lyrics we added throughout the process that make us think of our significant others. We hope you'll find moments in there that do the same for you.”
