Aly & AJ Releases New Album “With Love From”
American pop rock duo Aly & AJ, consisting of Alyson Michalka and Amanda Joy Michalka, released their fifth studio album “With Love From” on March 15, 2023.
It is their second album under Aly and AJ's own record label, following the 2021 album “A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun”.
The album comprises 11-track, featuring guest appearance from Joy Oladokun.
The duo recorded album with a producer Yves Rothman at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, as with the previous album.
The duo shared on social media, “With Love From contains several years of work and a lifetime of dreams and silent hopes. It's a postcard to our fans. And a document of our loyal sisterhood, the footprint of our secrets only we know. Our second full length album with Yves Rothman cut Sunset Sound and representative of the talent and dedication of countless wonderful musicians and engineers we will be telling you about in the coming days.”- The album features Americana folk music. Last year, Alyson Michalka told Variety about the album, “We wanted to make a record that kind of dug deeper into Americana folk music, and we're not claiming that this record is among the American greats, but we did our best in telling our story and staying true to who we are as songwriters and musicians.”
Amanda Joy Michalka continued, “Aly and I, we were inspired by pop music, because that's what we were listening to at the time; we felt comfortable writing pop music. Pop is still in our DNA - that's songwriting at its essential core. Every song, in a way, is pop. With a lot of ways songs are formatted, they're usually in a pop format. But I think for Aly and I, bringing in a little more of a rock edge, a little more guitar, a little more analog-leaning production as opposed to electronic-leaning synths.”
AJ Michalka told NYLON in an interview, “This album initially started with a kind of coming back for Aly and I. A touch of the beat, that record opened up a whole new portal where Aly and I feel comfortable as musicians and as songwriters; With Love From is a pure continuation of that.” -
