Lola Young Releases New Song “Don't Hate Me”
British singer-songwriter Lola Young released a new song “Don't Hate Me” from her upcoming project “My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely” on February 24, 2023.
She teased the song on SoundCloud. Lola Young shared, “Since dont hate me is receiving much love (thank u btw), ive decided to released a snippet of it on soundcloud for u gorgeous people to indulge in.. enjoy..”
The song is the third single off of the project, following “Annabel's House”, and “Stream Of Consciousness”.
It was written by Lola Young, Will Brown, and Conor Dickinson. Produced by manuka.
Lola Young told CLASH about the song in an interview, “So this song is actually me talking to myself in the chorus, but also reflecting - it's saying to somebody else, 'don't hate me, but you're not what I thought you was'. I'm flipping it, so it's like, 'don't hate me, don't put it on me, but you're not what I thought you was'. And that's the beauty of wanting to not be hated for something that's not your problem. It's got that punky grit to the song. I really like the idea of having the hip-hop beat and it feels really raw. I basically freestyled. I really love the song. I'm really excited.”- The new project is set to be released on May 26, 2023 and comprises 10-track.
Lola Young said of the project, “Ive made quite a lot of music in my life and i have never felt prouder of a body of work. I'm over to moon to be sharing a piece of myself with you. A proper piece of my heart. These 10 songs mean everything to me, each in their own way and I hope they end up meaning a lil something to you too. This project speaks about my experiences with love, heartbreak, feelings of failure, feelings of of self hatred, self love, but most importantly this is sonically and lyrically a new chapter for me, one i cant wait for you to read. The title itself describes my journey with my mental health condition, learning to live and grow through it, becoming friends with it and also just the state of my bloody mind half the time lmao.
