Toronto-based folk-pop singer-songwriter Angela Saini released a new song “It's Ok” on Janaury 20, 2023.
The song is the second single off of her upcoming sophomore album, following “In It For The Ride” released last October.
It was written by Angela Saini. The track was written for her friend and collaborator Derek who passed away unexpectedly, but it also applies to pandemic depression.
Angela Saini said of the song, “The most personal song I've ever written and a song I never intended anyone to hear. It also features my first time rapping in a song and shows us that 'it's okay not to be okay'”.
She continued, “Sometimes we don't know what to do with sadness and depression, and I want people to know it's fine to crawl into a ball—it's okay not to be okay.”- The new album is expected to be released in 2023.
It is her first album in four years since the 2019 album “Hope on the Stereo”
“I am known for positive songs, but a lot of these were written in dark states. My life isn’t ponies and rainbows, but I write myself out of the sadness,” she said. “In every moment we have a choice. I choose to uplift myself and bring people along with me.” - source : Apple Music
