Canadian singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen unveiled a new song “Talking to Yourself” on September 16, 2022.
The song is the third single off of her upcoming sixth studio album “The Loneliest Time”, following “Beach House” and “Western Wind”.
It was written by Carly Rae Jepsen, Ryan Rabin, Benjamin Berger, and Simon Wilcox. Produced by Captain Cuts.
The album comprises 13-track, featuring guest appearance from Rufus Wainwright.
Carly Rae Jepsen told CRACK Magazine about the album, “I had the playground of all the eras to jump from, and this was more just writing from the heart, in whatever direction the songs wanted to go, ... It excited me to have those moments of flirtation on the [new] album, but also broaden the spectrum of what the subject of a pop song was allowed to be.”
She continued, “At that time, I had been in a relationship, and felt quite lonely. With The Loneliest Time, I was reflecting more on what that extreme emotion causes in you. It's a subject that I find really inspiring because there's a lot of different things to take away from it, and that was what I was broaching with this album.”
