Lizzo Releases New Song “Grrrls”
- American rapper Lizzo released a new song “Grrrls” on June 10, 2022.
The song is the second single off of her upcoming fourth studio album “Special”, following “About Damn Time”.
She first performed the song on Saturday Night Live back in April.
The track sampled American rap group Beastie Boys' “Girls”, which was released from their debut album “Licensed to Ill” in 1987.
She worked with producers Benny Blanco, Blake Slatkin, Ilya, Max Martin, and Pop Wansel on the track.
The new album is set to be released on July 15, 2022. It is her first album in three years.
She also recently announced that an HBO Max documentary about her life titled “Untitled Lizzo Documentary” will debut this fall.
“Growing up I never dreamed I’d get to experience all of the things I’ve accomplished in my life, and I’m just getting started,” Lizzo said in a statement. “From ‘Cuz I Love You to my dramatic world tour, losing and gaining love, and creating my new album Special, y’all get to see the amount of time, patience, blood, sweat and tears that went into this process. It takes ten years to become an ‘overnight success,’ and hopefully I can inspire other young creatives to keep going.”
