The track was written by Sasha Alex Sloan and King Henry. Produced by King Henry and Chad Copelin.
After the release of the song, she dropped acoustic version of the track along with a music video on May 2nd.
Sasha Alex Sloan shared on social media, “happy monday y'all here's the acoustic version of new normal :) I swear I'm playing piano you just can't see it in this clip lol”
The new album is out May 13, 2022 and comprises 11-track, including preceding singles “WTF”, “I blame the world” and “New Normal”.
She said, “Welcome to “I blame the world.” I've been calling it my coming of age album (because I'm a boomer now lol) where I started looking more outward than inward. After being stuck in my house for 2+ years, I started to get really angry at everything and everyone around me. I also fell into quite the depression, which is where a lot of these songs stem from. I started asking “why?” which led to songs like “WTF” and “I blame the world.” I also moved to Nashville and everywhere I turned saw “live, laugh, love” signs during my peak depression, which inspired that lol.”
On April 26, she performed “I blame the world” on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
