Wizkid Releases New Remix of “Essence” featuring Justin Bieber & Tems
- Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Bieber joined in a new remix of Nigerian singer-songwriter Wizkid's smash hit “Essence”.
The original version of the song was released last October, featuring Nigerian singer-producer Tems, from his fourth studio album “Made in Lagos”.
The new track was written by Tems, Wizkid and Justin Bieber. Produced by P2J and Legendury Beatz.
It will appear on his upcoming deluxe version of “Made in Lagos”, which is out August 27, 2021.
“That song has become emblematic of being back outside,” Wizkid told Billboard. “Then, a narrative on the internet started about the song being the song of the summer — and we took that energy and ran with it. We just came out of the craziest pandemic ... Afrobeats just spreads love around a room when you play it.”
He continued to say of sucsess of the song, “This is the first time where it feels like a song is competing on the level of a similarly promoted song from Western artists in the pop genre. And I hope that’s the lasting influence of the record — that it opens doors for more people with different styles and different textures.” - source : Spotify
