Lana Del Rey Releases New Album “Norman fucking Rockwell” & New Music Video for “Doin’ Time”
- American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey released her sixth studio album “Norman fucking Rockwell”.
The album is her first LP in two years since “Lust for Life”. She worked with Jack Antonoff on the album.
She told Zane Lowe Beats Radio 1 Radio show about the story and inspiration behind the album in an interview, “It’s called Norman Fucking Rockwell, it was the album title since March. I mean, working with Jack I was in a little bit of a lighter mood ‘cause he’s so funny, so the title track and it are kind of about this guy who like, he is such a genius artist but he thinks he’s the shit and he knows it, and like he won’t shut talking about it. The narrative goes on and on. It’s so awesome I ended up with, you know, like, being creative on a pipe story or whatever. I just like the title track so much, that I was like “OK, definitely want the record to be called that.”
On the same day of the release album, she premiered a new music video for “Doin’ Time” from the album.
Directed by Rich Lee, who crafted super-sized Lana Del Rey walking through Los Angeles like Godzilla.
The track is from documentary film "Sublime" directed by Bill Guttentag. The film features iconic California band Sublime, who fused reggae, punk, ska, dub, and hip-hip into a genre-defying new sound that electrified diverse audiences and airways in the mid-1990s.
The original version of Doin’ Time” is classic song "Summertime" by George Gershwin.
She announced two legs of a tour in support of the album. The first leg is set to take place in North America in the fall of 2019, and the second in Europe in early 2020.
