DeVotchKa Premieres New Song “Angels”
- Denver-based alt-pop band DeVotchKa will release their sixth studio album "The Night Falls Forever" on August 24, 2018.
DeVotchKa is best known for the soundtrack of 2006s film "Little Miss Sunshine". The soundtrack was nominated for a 2006 Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack. The main song "The Winner Is" was also used in a commercial by the French-based environment company Suez and the Dutch pension fund PGGM.
From the new album, the band dropped a new song “Angels”. The song was premiered exclusively on Billboard.
Frontman Nick Urata told Billboard about the song;
"I had nine or 10 of the songs together that I thought were great and gave them to the record company, and they were really excited. But they were like, 'We need a couple more songs,' which was the last thing I wanted to hear. I had been working this 'Angels' song for, like, a year or two and really liked the chorus but hadn't finished it. So (Concord) certainly lit a fire under the song and forced me to focus on it, so that's some of the urgency that you hear that we hopefully captured on tape.
That's definitely one reason I love that song. It feels like a good sort of driving song, something you'd want to put on for a long road trip. I hope it comes across that way."
- The album is their first LP in seven years and the first release from their new label, Concord Records.
It is available to pre-order now here.
The band will perform live at Rough Trade in New York as celebrate the album releases show on August 23rd.
After that, the band will embark on a North American tour in support of the album on September 19th.
