  • Taylor Swift Covers Earth, Wind & Fire's R&B-Funk Classic “September"

  • American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift covered Earth, Wind & Fire's “September". The song has been delivered via streaming music services.

Taylor Swift says that she chose “September” for sentimental reasons. She’s always loved the classic tune by Earth, Wind & Fire, and notes that the month of September is especially meaningful to one of her relationships.
She also recorded an acoustic take on "Delicate," a track from her sixth LP, 2017's "Reputation". She recorded both covers at the Tracking Room in Nashville, Tennessee, where she moved at age 14 to pursue country music.
“September" was released by Earth, Wind & Fire in 1978, from the band's album "The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vol. 1". The song became number one on the U.S. R&B chart and reached the eighth position on the Billboard Hot 100. It was written by Maurice White, Al McKay and Allee Willis.
Taylor Swift's version is a quiet acoustic meditation, softly crooning the nostalgic words over banjo plucks and rippling organ chords.
