American singer-songwriter Chelsea Cutler unveiled a new song “Devil On My Shoulder” from her upcoming sophomore album “When I Close My Eyes” on October 1, 2021.
The track was written by Chelsea Cutler, Nolan Lambroza and Madi Yanofsky. Produced by Sir Nolan, Dylan McDougle and Chelsea Cutler.
Chelsea Cutler shared on social media, “I do think to be able to be in a better place emotionally, I had to get to a place where I could make the distinction between me and my depression. For a long time, I conflated the two and believed my depression was a fundamental part of my identity. I don't feel that way anymore. I know what my identity is and what my personality is. I also recognize the way that my depression works – as an external force – against all the best things about me. For lack of a better description, my depression is like the devil on my shoulder, whispering things to me that aren't true, encouraging me to feel emotions based on cognitive distortions, obstructing my motivation and confidence. Being able to see my depression as a separate entity has been liberating for me.”- She continued, “A lot of processing took place for me while writing this song. It has easily taken the place of my favorite on the album, and I hope that it helps others realize the things it helped me realize.”
The new album is set to be released on October 15, 2021.
The album comprises of 13-track, featuring guest appearance from Quinn XCII.
She said of the album, “My sophomore album is generally a conceptually lighter album than haw to be human. In the last 18+ months, I've explored writing about a much broader spectrum of emotions, many of which are feeling of happiness and gratitude.” - source : Apple Music
