American pop-rock band OneRepublic appeared on The Today Show to perform “Run”, “Counting Stars” and “Secrets”.
The latest song “Run” was released from their upcoming fifth studio album “Human” on May 5th.
Frontman Ryan Tedder said, “This song is about all the negative press. Everything that is on the news sucks ass 99 percent of the time. Turn the news off, get off socials, whatever is making you upset or depressed. All that nonsense is just going to slow you down. Life is short, live it while you're alive. We're not promised another day. Run.”
“Counting Stars” is included on their third studio album “Native”, which was released in 2013.
The song was inspired by Ryan Tedder's writing sessions with Beyonce in the Hamptons. He said, “laying in bed awake at night when you're stressed out of your mind, thinking 'How are we gonna make ends meet? How are we gonna pay the bills?' You know, all those things you wanna do with your life – how are we gonna make them work? How's this actually gonna happen or come to pass? So, instead of counting sheep, we're counting stars.”
