Valerie Orth Releases New Song “Rabbit Hole”
- Brooklyn-based electro alt-pop singer-songwriter Valerie Orth unveiled a new song “Rabbit Hole” on October 9th.
The song is the title track of her upcoming sophomore album, which is set to be released on December 4th.
Valerie Orth said of the song, “how deeply social media, filters, and photoshop impact humans' interactions with each other, with reality, and with the natural world. And while technology has allowed us to have a voice whenever and wherever, most of us have become dependent on it for a sense of worth. And we can't seem to turn away from these forces that direct us how to think, live, and even love.”
The album is her first LP since her 2011 debut album “Faraway City”.
She wrote the songs of the album at isolated in a house in Oregon. Then she worked with Grammy-award winning engineer David “Dizmix” Lopez in Los Angeles.
“In the production process, we began exploring the disappearance of definitive lines in gender, genre, time and cultures, and how technology relates to that concept,” Valerie Orth explains. “In contrast to what was traditionally taught, time is not always linear, gender is not binary, and cultures that were so clearly distinct from one another before often blend together. And technology plays an enormous role in all of it.”
