Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Eric Dash has dropped a new music video for “I Just Need To Get Away” directed by Micah Stuart.
The song was released last month as his first single of 2020. He played a neighbor and a postman in the clip.
The song is grounded in Dash’s love for 90s bands like Everclear, Fountains of Wayne, Weezer, Nirvana and Jimmy Eat World. Eric Dash said, “I don’t know how to follow trends. That’s not inspiring to me whatsoever. But to do something different and still be accepted...that’s what I want. To be accepted as I am”.
The track was written by him in 2019 and recorded in early 2020.
“It’s about being broken,” Eric Dash told American Songwriter. “Nothing has ever gone the way that I planned, and I was left broke and lost.”
“I was making very singer-songwriter songs before and the first releases I put out didn’t even do my songs justice,” he continued. “It’s hard to produce something right, let alone make a pop song when you’re not even into pop. All of that took a toll on me. This song is about breaking down and mental health.”- source : American Songwriter
