Paul Russell Releases New Song “That Girl” featuring Saweetie
Los Angeles-based rapper Paul Russell released a new song “That Girl” on May 9, 2025.
The song is his first original music since the 2024 EP “again sometime?”.
As the single, it follows the collaborative song “Confessions” with HEESEUNG and JAKE, which was released back in January.
This time, he teamed up with American rapper Saweetie on the track. This marks the first collaboration between Paul Russell and Saweetie.
The song is a vibrant, '90s-inspired track that blends Paul Russell's upbeat style with Saweetie's signature flair.
It was written by Fresh, Jeff Gitty, Khris Riddick-Tynes, Paul Russell, and Sean Cook. Produced by Sean Cook and Jeff Gitty.
The accompanying music video was directed by Logan Meis. The video features the dynamic duo orchestrating a brazen heist in a buzzing art gallery.- Paul Russell said of the song, “Long ago there was a simpler time, when the jeans were baggier, the songs were lovey-er and people actually danced at the club. Saweetie and I think the world needs a bit of that right now so we’re bringing it back: Welcome to the ’90s. I love this song because it makes me want to move and I think it’s gonna do the same for you.”
Saweetie said, “Me and Paul were supposed to collaborate for some time and we finally found the perfect record! When I heard ‘That Girl,’ I knew I had to be on it. It’s got a nostalgic summertime vibe that makes you want to have fun. It’s something for my icy girls to listen to when they want to tap into their confidence. Always remember: you’re that girl!” -
