  • Loyle Carner Premieres New Song “about time” on BBC Radio 1

  • British rapper Loyle Carner premiered a new song “about time” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

Also, he released another song “lyin” along with the song.
Both songs will appear on his upcoming fourth studio album “hopefully !”, which is set to be released on June 202, 2025.
Both tracks were inspired by his role as a father.
“about time” was written by Aviram Barath, Loyle Carner, and Nick Mills. “lyin” was written by Aviram Barath, Loyle Carner, Marla Kether, Nick Mills, and Richard Spaven.
Both songs were produced by Loyle Carner, Aviram Barath, and Nick Mills.

Loyle Carner told Jack Saunders about “about time”, “It's a similar story to before, but this was the first song i recorded with my son on my shoulders of the whole process, you know. so, like, this is how i learned how to do it. So, beautiful song.”
  • He continued, “That's how he speaks the end is that he actually took my headphones off my head. Because throughout the whole song, he was saying, 'Are you finished? Are you finished?' And you can kind of hear it. And then at the very end, it's all that's there. There's no drums or anything. He's like, you're done, because he just wanted to go home. And I said, 'Look, if you come and get my shoulders, then we could do one more', then we can leave. So it was like, so it's like a one take business.”

He added, “I think it's just that, to be honest, on this process, I was so scared about it because I put my life out there all the time, and that's usually fine, like my mom's, it's okay my girl, that's just about okay. But like with my kids, it's just not okay to put them out there like that. So it's been a real process for me to learn, kind of even further, to kind of strike that balance and how to, like, be coded, but also still celebrate the things that I love the most, because I love them the most. It's hard.”

  • The new album comprises 11 tracks, produced by Loyle Carner, Aviram Barath, and Nick Mills.
It is his first album in three years since the 2022 album “Hugo”.
On the album, he performed with his band.

He told Billboard about his own band, “I loved the anonymity of being in a band. I wanted to be around when the magic is happening and to not just be sent a beat after all the fun parts had already happened. I wanted to move away from the words being all that I can contribute.”
