American singer-songwriter and former Fifth Harmony, Normani has announced her highly-anticipated debut album “DOPAMINE” will be released on June 14, 2024 via RCA Records.
Initially, she planned to release the debut album after Fifth Harmony's indefinite hiatus.
She released several singles, including the 2019 single “Motivation” from the album between 2018 and 2022. But the project was delayed.
Finally, the album title and cover art were announced on her social media back in February.
Normani told Who What Wear about the album, “I know what I've been through. For me, this upcoming album is not just about music coming out. It feels like a representation of everything I've gone through to get to this moment. I know I needed time, experiences, and space coming out of [Fifth Harmony] in order to become the version of myself I needed to be. Without [all of that], I would not be able to exist within the creative space that I am in now. I would not be able to make the type of music I'm making now.”- She added, “The album feels like liberation, like a season of freedom. Not just because the record is finally coming out, but because it's a celebration of everything I have been through to get to this moment. During this process, I heard God say to me, 'Trust me. I know you're afraid, but trust me anyway. Dare to trust me anyway. Now is the time.'”

From the album, she released the first single called “1:59” on April 26 and the EP version, including acapella, instrumental and karaoke, on May 7, 2024.
On the track she teamed up with American rapper Gunna.
The track was written by Brittany Hazzard, Courtlin Jabrae, Darius Coleman, Marqueze Parker, Normani Hamilton, Sergio Kitchens, and Tommy Brown. Produced by Tommy Brown and Leather Jackettt.
