Mike Ruby Releases New EP “A Million You's”
Canadian singer-songwriter Mike Ruby released his sophomore EP “A Million You's” on October 20, 2023.
It is his body of work in three years since the 2020 debut EP “You Wrote These Songs”.
The EP comprises 7-track, produced by Nathan Ferraro and Mike Ruby.
It is the album consisting of what-ifs, self-discovery, and introspection.
Mike Ruby said of the EP, In this geopolitical environment, it is strange to be releasing music because it almost feels celebratory. “This being said, art is always something those who strive for peace relate to, and it brings us together. No matter what you do, I believe we can all relate to the visceral emotions wrapped up in song, and I hope some of these songs take you on a much needed journey at this point in time.”- Mike Ruby explained about some tracks for the EP.
“A Million You's”
“'A Million You's' encompasses all themes of the EP, and takes the listener on a vulnerable journey through an emotional songwriter's lens. Co-produced with Nathan Ferraro, an incredible songwriter in his own right, this raw lyrically driven single is complimented by real instrumentation which gives both the soaring melodies and visceral lyrics room to breathe, bringing you face to face with Mike's inner monologue.” -
“Girls That Aren't My Girlfriend”
“I was in a long relationship, one that I thought was THE lifelong relationship, so when it ended it took a lot of time to get over. When I had taken the time I needed, talking to girls that weren't her still felt weird. I opened up to David Arkwright about how I was feeling and we created the melodies together. Naturally the song comes with a tinge of sadness, but overall optimism. I wanted something dancy in the chorus, so he sprinkled the perfect synth in there to make it feel somewhat retro, which is essentially modern these days.”
Mike Ruby “Unconditional”
'unconditional' is a blunt, no holds barred love song that is as literal as ever. All the layers symbolize the tough situations that arise in relationships. In the end, it all comes back down to where it started, a simplistic piano line, mirrored by a simplistic idea.” - source : Apple Music
