merci, mercy Announces New EP “Like An Orchid”, Shares New Song “Silver Lining”
Sydney-based alt-pop singer-songwriter merci, mercy has announced her third EP “Like An Orchid” will be released on November 24, 2023.
The EP comprises 5-track, including preceding singles “Shovel” and “Lonely & Horny”, plus two new tracks “If You Had Any Friends” and “Mouldy”.
The songs bounce around merci's thoughts on big topics including the ups and downs of relationships, struggles with addiction and anxiety, and everything in between.
From the EP, she unveiled a new song “Silver Lining” on October 18, 2023.
The track was written by Merceedes Thorne, and Robby De Sa, who also produced it.
Speaking about the track, she reveals its origins candidly, which touch on her own experiences with social anxiety and her coping mechanisms.
- “Silver Lining is about having social anxiety and self-medicating yourself, whether that's with substances and/or people,” merci, mercy said of the song. “it also shows someone who is so in love with the habits they use to cope with their mental health that they have forgotten the consequences those habits have on them.”
She added, “Silver Lining makes me feel happy because I could turn something that causes me pain into a fun upbeat song that others will be able to enjoy.”
