  • Sigur Rós Drops New Music Video for “Skel”

  • Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós, consisting of Jón Þór Birgisson (vocals/guitar), Georg Hólm (bass) and Kjartan Sveinsson (synthesizers/keyboards), has dropped a new music video for “Skel” directed by George Jasper Stone.

The song is featured on their eighth studio album “ÁTTA”, which was released back in June.
The album is their first body of work in a decade and comprises 10-track.
It was written by Jon Birgisson, Kjartan Sveinsson, and Georg Holm. Produced by Sigur Rós.
Sigur Rós said of the video, “Through the film I wanted to portray a journey through the perspective of a spiritual being. I like to create work that emulates a simulation, where virtual spaces possess their own agency and evolve based on their interactions. My intention was to showcase two distinct environments: one representing a living utopia or a thriving ecosystem, while the other portrays a futuristic landfill reflecting the environmental consequences of human actions.”
They continued, “Skel connected to emotions of vulnerability within the context of the crisis. I wanted to capture the transition between these two virtual spaces, experiencing a sense of chaos and instability.”
