Selma Higgins Releases New Song “CAN'T DO THIS”
Danish-Irish singer-songwriter Selma Higgins released a new song “CAN'T DO THIS” along with a music video on June 9, 2023.
The song is the second single after a three-year hiatus, following “Sunlight” released back in March.
The track was written by Selma Higgins, Mads Julius Dyrst, and Emil Gemmer Schultz. Produced by Franko Fugazi.
The accompanying video was directed by Signe Dige.
Selma Higgins said of the song, “It's a classic 'stuck in the relationship' kind of story that could have easily developed into a sad break-up-song. But it's not. It's more of a 'sigh' - an acceptance of the odd beauty of being stuck together with all its flaws, the restlessness and need of space from time to time. These are topics that can be tough to deal with or very one-sided and judgmental and that's why I wanted 'CAN'T DO THIS' to be a light, uplifting and colorful play on those feelings.”- Selma Higgins shared on social media, “This one was a blast to make and has been waiting to take off into the air !!! CDT is an ode to the need for space and independency in a relationship. it was important for us, when me and Franko Fugazi wrote it, that it wasn't a judgement of the beautiful thing in wanting to be with each other. but rather catching the feeling you can get when you feel stuck in your own development.
