The Chainsmokers & bludnymph Team Up for New Song “Self Destruction Mode”
American DJ duo The Chainsmokers, consisting of Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, released the second single called “Self Destruction Mode” from their upcoming fifth studio album on June 2, 2023.
This time, the duo recruited Canadian singer-songwriter bludnymph on the track.
The duo first performed the song during their 2023 tour in Mexico.
They teased the song on social media since May and shared, “We haven't written a song like this since 'Don't Let Me Down.'”
They continued, “can't believe the response we've gotten on this track so far ❤️ it really blows our minds how much love we've gotten on this record that hasn't even come out yet.”
The track was written by Alex Pall, Andrew Taggart, Cirkut, Charlie Storwick and bludnymph. Produced by The Chainsmokers and Cirkut.
The accompanying music video was directed by Jeremiah Davis, who also created the video for the previous single “Up & Down”.
Drew Taggart shared, “i've struggled with drinking throughout my career as it's an addiction that's woven into the environment we exist in. this guilt of not being good enough or not being better ironically sends me into a spiral that restarts my bad habit cycle. this song isn't a cry for help but more of an embrace or celebration of all that i am. i know that im flawed. i know that i am great and so are you. Never forget it.”
