  • Mckenna Grace Releases New Song “Self Dysmorphia”

  • American actress and singer-songwriter Mckenna Grace released a new song “Self Dysmorphia” on November 18, 2022.

The song is her fourth single of 2022, following “do all my friends hate me?”, “You Ruined Nirvana” and “Post Party Trauma”.
Also, the track will appear on her upcoming highly-anticipated debut EP, which will be released in Spring 2023.
It was written by Mckenna Grace, Elizabeth Lowell Boland, and Herag Sanbalian who also produced the track.
Mckenna Grace said of the song, “I wrote this song at a time when I was dealing with a lot of body issues from my scoliosis and was in a dark hole of comparing myself to other people on social media. At the time, I wiped my entire Twitter account because I had read a thread of brutal comments from thousands of people talking about my appearance, my acting and my voice. I wrote the song to release my emotions. I never felt like I wanted to release this song because I was afraid that people wouldn't understand why I felt like this or would think I was just feeling sorry for myself or trying to get attention. After sitting on the song for a few months and playing it for my label and a few of my friends, I realized that people are going to think what they want to think about me, my intentions and my heart. I guess I am putting the song out there so that other people can see that it doesn't matter how much you think you know someone or how amazing their life may look like from the outside, they too can be carrying around these weighted emotions and personal struggles. And as with most songs I write, I hope that people know they aren't alone.”
  • The accompanying lyric video was directed by Mckenna Grace.
She said of the video, “I recorded this video in my room 3 weeks after having my spine surgery. I had been confined to the couch and my zero gravity chair and I was going crazy not getting to be creative. I also knew that there was no way I was far enough in my recovery to feel good enough to film a music video before this song came out. I filmed and edited it in a day and sent it to my music team and told them this was the music video : )”
