New Friends Releases New Song “Waste My Time”
Canadian alt-pop band New Friends, consisting of Stefan Boulineau (vocals), Ayden Miller (keyboard), Cole Wilson (guitar) and Conrad Galecki (bass/drums), released a new song “Waste My Time” on October 14, 2022.
The song is the second single off of their upcoming EP, following “Doomed” released back in August.
It was written by Stefan Serge Boulineau, Steven Mollela, Keandra Shan Lal, and Alexandra Nora Soumalias. Produced by Steve Mollela.
The accompanying music video was directed by Connor Scheffler.
“A toxic relationship is at the forefront of our new single, 'Waste My Time.' It's about knowing very well that a dynamic has shifted from being healthy and fun to abusive and devastating, ” the band explained. “We took inspiration from the euphoric and sometimes mind numbing effects that love, whether toxic or healthy, has on someone's day-to-day life.”
- They continued, “'Eat up every word you say, my perception dilates'. This line truly depicts the exhaustion in the relationship. Whether true or false, you will still sit there and genuinely value the other person's opinion more than your own because that is how deep love can go.”
The band added, “This song has really allowed us to take the backseat and look at our relationships in the third person, catching ourselves early on when we sense there is a risk of submission. 'Waste My Time' exposes the invisible boundary in a relationship that should not be crossed.”
The band shared on social media, “Another song that fell out of the sky at an incredible writing camp last spring with Steve Molella, who we've had way too much fun shaping the “Camaro” era with !! Ally Sou & Kiki Rowe also co-wrote this one and we're so excited to finally be able to share it with the world.”
