  • The 1975 Premieres New Song “I'm In Love With You” on BBC Radio 1

  • British pop rock band The 1975, consisting of Matty Healy (vocals/guitars/keyboards), Adam Hann (guitar), Ross MacDonald (bass), George Daniel (drums), premiered a new song “I'm In Love With You” along with a music video on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.

The song is the third single off of their upcoming fifth studio album “Being Funny in a Foreign Language”, following “Part of the Band” and “Happiness”.
The band performed the song at Reading and Leeds Festival 2022 last month.
It was written by Matty Healy and George Daniel with production by Jack Antonoff.
The band frontman Matty Healy told Clara Amfo about the song, “This tune was lot's of luck add sometimes their songs fake clever bits in their bits for your brain to think about, and I think that with this I just didn't really care. I just was like, what this is kind of a vibe like when we started it. And I think that there's like an openness and an earnestness to what we're doing at the moment because, I can't say you don't care concerns that you care. But we love what we do. And we love kind of being who we are. And we're like really playing with that at the moment. So 'I'm In Love With You' is just I felt like a really good song to put out at the moment. And we've been playing it live and people like it and and it's just it's one of them 1975 songs in it.”
  • The accompanying video was directed by Samuel Bradley, who filmed it earlier this summer.
“There's a real desire now in art for remarkable stuff that takes as little technology as possible, because everyone can make something with technology, and it's so easy to not do loads of practice,” Matty Healy told Pitchfork. “Like this video that I just did—you don't need to put as much effort as we put in. It's basically part two of the “Change of Heart” video, where I was a clown and trying to chase this girl and get her back. But in order to exaggerate that idea, I had to exaggerate the world, and my dancing had to be better. So I was in dance rehearsals for a week, and she was on wires, flying. It's very Buster Keaton, Fellini, dreamy. It was a lot of work. But we wanted to something that's really impressive instead of leaning into technology all the time.”
The new album is set to be released on October 14, 2022.
