Jordan Rakei Performs “Family” & Billie Eilish's “everything i wanted” on BBC Radio 1 Piano Sessions
New Zealand-Australian singer-songwriter Jordan Rakei appeared on BBC Radio 1 Piano Sessions to perform “Family” and Billie Eilish's “everything i wanted” on March 20, 2022.
The song was released as the lead single from his fourth studio album “What We Call Life” last June.
It was written by Ernesto Marichales and Jordan Rakei.
Jordan Rakei told Apple Music of the song, “I was thinking about my parents’ divorce, when I was about 14. When I was a young teenager, I thought the divorce didn't affect me. But now, double the age, I’m reflecting and thinking about the impact it must have had on my parents, navigating now being single parents. Also, thinking about me, sympathizing with the young teenager that I was, not really understanding its impact. I had this idea that my parents were ‘super soldiers.’ As I became an adult, I'm like, ‘Oh, wow, that's just a normal person trying to go about their life.’”
“everything i wanted” was released by American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish in 2019.
It was written by Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell. The song won Record of the Year at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
