Rex Orange County Premieres New Song “KEEP IT UP” on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriter Alexander O'Connor, aka Rex Orange County premiered a new song “KEEP IT UP” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
The song is the first single off of his upcoming fourth studio album “WHO CARES?”, which is set to be released on March 11, 2022.
It was written by Alexander O'Connor. The accompanying music video was directed by Alex O'Connor, Alexandra Waespi and Bráulio Amado.
Alexander O'Connor told Clara Amfo about the song, “I feel like the last couple years are just really difficult in many ways for different people. There were times where I was just not in a positive place and needed some kind of motivation to carry on and keep going and like when I didn't really want. So this song kind of is that is me saying let's keep going even when it's hard. That's why it's the first song.”
He continued, “I definitely didn't get it from it and post on Instagram. I probably got it from not being on internet actually. I'm pretty good from like going outside, just living my life outside of what I do musically. And that kind of was me charging backup to put out more music right models again, throughout the lockdown. However depressing it was it was also super inspiring at times and I did make a lot of music. There's much to come including this song. I don't know, I kind of just get it from being in not such a good place something coming out of it, by getting help.”
The new album comprises 11-track, featuring guest appearances from Tyler and The Creato. It is his first album in three years.- source : BBC Radio 1
