Billie Eilish Performs “Getting Older” & “Billie Bossa Nova” on ABC TIME100 Broadcast Special
For the second year in a row, TIME brought its TIME100 list of the world's most influential people on ABC.
The event aired on September 20 on ABC, where Billie Eilish, Kane Brown, Simone Biles, Kate Winslet, Bowen Yang, Nikole Hannah-Brown, Tracee Ellis Ross, Allyson Felix, Drew Barrymore, Michael Phelps, Andy Cohen, Kristen Bell, Lance Bass, Darius Rucker, Tiffany Haddish and more appeared on.
Billie Eilish performed “Getting Older” and “Billie Bossa Nova” along with FINNEAS from her latest album “Happier Than Ever”.
Billie Eilish said of two songs, “Billie Bossa Nova” is a little bit of a fancy, I don't know what. We actually called this song “Billie Bossa Nova” because in, I want to say, spring of 2019, my brother sent me a beat he had made. He called it “Billie Bossa Nova” 'cause it was just a bossa nova-type beat and I was like “that's amazing” and then nothing happened for a year and a half. Then we listened to it again and kinda wrote this fantasy, romanticized, glorified, dream.”
“Getting Older” was tough to write 'cause it's a very revealing song talking about things that I only at the time had just felt I realized about myself and felt insecure about and wanted to talk about. I don't know, I think that that happens a lot and it should be completely welcomed, is realizing stuff years later. You sometimes don't realize what's going on around you until a really long time later or realize what you feel until years later.”- INX3MRXG9DM

“I find reason for optimism… in our 18th annual TIME100 list of the world's most influential people. It features extraordinary leaders from around the world working to build a better future, from entertainers striving to make Hollywood more inclusive to activists fighting for sustainability and human rights….They are disrupters, fixers, doers, iconoclasts, problem solvers—people who in a year of crisis have leaped into the fray,” TIME CEO Edward Felsenthal wrote.-
