  • Dua Lipa Shares New Song “Break My Heart”

  • English singer-songwriter Dua Lipa announced her sophomore album “Future Nostalgia” will be dropping this Friday (March 27) instead of in April.

A week before planned, partly because of coronavirus concerns but mostly because the whole thing leaked online a few days ago.
"I was toying with the idea of whether I should push [the release date]," Dua Lipa said. "Although it's scary to put out a record right now, maybe music is what we need. It's good to get people to dance and to have fun."
From the album, she shared a new song “Break My Heart” on March 25th. The track sampled 1980's “Another One Bites the Dust” by Queen and 1987's “Need You Tonight” by INXS. It was written by Michael Hutchence, Andrew Farriss, Dua Lipa, Ali Tamposi, watt, Stefan Johnson and Jordan K. Johnson.
  • She explained the song, “This samples INXS’s ‘Need You Tonight’, and it’s a perfect explanation of ‘dance crying’. It’s about finally being in a happy place and knowing this new person is amazing. But then thinking: ‘Nothing else compares to this, and what if this ends and it breaks my heart?’ It’s the whole thing of being scared to be too happy, like when your day is going really well and you think, ‘What’s the one thing that’s going to f**k it up?’ I’m a hopeless romantic and always ask myself: ‘How am I going to protect this?’ But it’s also a sweet and vulnerable place to be, because you also see how much you care. It helped that the people I wrote this with know my boyfriend, which helped me be really open.”
