daysormay Drops New Music Video for “Role Model” featuring Tessa Violet
- Back in May, British Columbia-based pop-trio daysormay, consisting of Aidan Andrews, Nolan Bassett, and Carson Bassett, teamed up with Los Angels Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Tessa Violet to release a new song “Role Model”.
This marks the first time the trio and Tessa Violet have worked together. It was written by Nolan Thomas Bassett, Eli Atticus Garlick, Craig Matterson, Carson Hardy Bassett and Aidan Patrick Andrews.
On June 17th, the trio dropped a new music video for the song. The video was shot in downtown Vancouver and directed by Christian Lai.
Aidan Andrews told Alternative Press about the video, “The video was an insane process. Tessa was in the studio with us the night before we were scheduled to do the video shoot. And we ended up spending pretty much the whole night in the studio. So we only had an hour or two between that and when we’re supposed to start. I think these guys got a little bit of sleep. I decided not to sleep and just get everything ready. We started at 6 a.m., picked up our camera operator and just spent the whole day in a haze. And I don’t really think you can tell. Which is cool.”
- Tessa Violet explained how the collaboration came about, “I was on tour with COIN, and I had two headline shows on that tour, one in Chicago and one in Portland. I tweeted to my fans, “Hey, I need a local support act in the Pacific Northwest. What are your favorite local Pacific Northwest-like smaller bands?” I got a bunch of submissions. One of them was daysormay, and I was like, “Dude, these guys are incredible.” And I love this song “Role Model.” They were too far from Portland to support that one. But I added that song to my playlist and sent it to my manager. I was like, “Check out this band, they’re awesome.” I brought them out for a third of my headline tour. Then they were like, “Hey, you want to sing on this song?” And I’m like, “Of course, I want to sing on this song.”
