NewDad Releases New Song “Let Go”
Back in September, London-based Irish rock band NewDad, consisting of Julie Dawson (vocals/rhythm guitar), Cara Joshi (bass), Sean O'Dowd (lead guitar) and Fiachra Parslow (drums), announced their debut album “MADRA” would be released on January 26, 2024.
The album comprises 11-track, produced by NewDad's long-time collaborator Chris W Ryan.
The album title means “dog” in Irish. The band lead singer Julie Dawson said of the album, “Madra explores various difficult parts of the human condition and the idea of the title is that these feelings that come up are sometimes ones you can't escape - feelings that follow you around like a dog. We had an amazing team around us who helped bring these songs to life and we're so excited for this album to be out in the world. We hope that people connect with the songs and that Madra can be a comfort to everyone who listens.”- xM6WlqCV_G0

From the album, the band released the third single called “Let Go” on October 20, 2023, following “Angel”.
The track was written by Fiachra Donal Parslow, Julie Elisabeth Dawson, Julie Elisabeth Dawson, Seán Elliott O'Dowd Monaghan, and Áindle O'Beirn. Produced by Chris W Ryan.
The accompanying music video was directed by Zack Arlo.
Julie Dawson said of the song, “Let Go is about not being able to get better, and how you can't shield yourself from your demons; it's about people trying but failing to pull you out of those thoughts and feelings. Saint Brigid's crosses were believed to bring protection from evil, so we felt having them included in the artwork and video was representative of people trying to save and protect you. We wanted to bring a level of Irish mysticism into the visuals as well. Making them for the video was nostalgic because we used to make them every year in school, back in Ireland.”-
