American singer-songwriter SZA returned with a new song “Hit Different” on September 4th.
It is her first single as lead artist since 2017's debut album “CTRL”.
She teamed up with rapper Ty Dolla $ign. The song was produced by The Neptunes. The accompanying music video was directed by SZA herself.
She recorded the song in DJ Khaled's house earlier this year while he was at the Super Bowl. “I was swimming in my brain about what I wanted to say first, what I wanted to bring energy wise first and I just really — I just stopped trying to like overthink and I just wanted to give people something just to vibe because I have so much stuff that I'm just done holding onto,” she explained in an interview with Apple Music.
She created six songs during that session. “I can't really wrap my head around the experience and I think more so I'm fangirling off of having a track produced by probably the most formative producers and artists for me when I was growing up,” she said. “I just cannot fucking believe that because it's my childhood dream and I can't believe that I made things I that fuck with with someone that really changed my life.”- qJlMkMtK7-8
