Cody Simpson Releases New Song “Nice To Meet You”
- Last week, Australian singer-songwriter Cody Simpson joined in Canadian EDM duo DVBBS and Swedish DJ duo Galantis' collaborative song “When The Lights Go Down”.
After the released of the song, he unveiled a new song “Nice To Meet You” along with a music video on January 25, 2022.
The song is the first single off of his upcoming fourth studio album under his own label Coast House Records and The Orchard. He left Atlantic Records in 2014.
He co-wrote the song with Adrian Cota and Nick Maybury. Produced by: Adrian Cota.
“I had just come out of a relationship and was potentially about to go into another one, so I was just in this sort of emotive stage of having all these mixed emotions and feelings. I had a lot to draw from,” Cody Simpson told Rolling Stone. “It's a funny experience when two people start to pretend on the surface something didn't mean what it meant. But then underneath you have all these fucked up ideas and feelings in your head. It was like practising non-attachment in a way, which is very hard to do.”
He continued, “There's contempt and then there's indifference. And so it's trying to go from contempt to indifference, with compassion. “Nice To Meet You” played with all those feelings.”
- Recently, he returned to Australia from Los Angeles. Cody Simpson shared on social media, “After 10 years abroad I'm back home on the beach I grew up on cutting a brand-new music video for my single. I was doing this right here back then as a kid. Feels like a full circle moment. I went back through the archives yesterday and just took a look at my whole journey thus far and it really hit me like a freight train. So many experiences, wins, losses, lessons, ups & downs. All leading me to where I am today. I've been through incarnations but at the root I'm still the same kid who grew up right here. It's good to be back. 'Nice To Meet You' is a return home whilst also being a turning of the page for me a musician.”
