Charli XCX Teams Up With Christine and the Queens for New Song “Gone”
British singer-songwriter Charli XCX recruited French singer-songwriter Christine and the Queens for a new song “Gone”.
Before the release of the new song, Charli XCX collaborated with Lizzo for "Blame It on Your Love".
Both songs will appear on her upcoming third studio album “Charli”, which is set to be released on September 20th.
This marks the firs time Charli XCX and Christine and the Queens worked together. Both artists first performed the song at Primavera Sound on May 30th.
The accompanying music video was directed by Colin Solal Cardo. “This song is about those situations where you are surrounded by loads of people but feel so isolated and alone. I feel like that a lot of the time in social situations,” Charli XCX wrote on Instagram. “This song is about breaking down but it’s also about breaking free. It feels like one big external scream. Both this song and video are a huge release of energy for me.”- Also she wote on Facebook, “GONE IS OUT NOW! I am beyond proud of this song. It feels so true to me and to how I feel. People seem to think I’m this consistently confident person - but I’m shy and terrified quite a lot actually. This song really discusses those feelings of fear and anxiety and the frustrations that come in the aftermath of those emotions. I am beyond happy to have collaborated with Christine and the Queens on this song - it’s truly a dream come true! Chris, thank you for creating a safe space for me to feel immediately like I belong. Thank you for being so kind and such a brilliant and enthusiastic collaborator. You’re so inspiring to me and you make me feel confident and happy. I’m happy to have been able to talk and get to know you through this song. You’re one of my favourite artists and this collaboration is a dream come true!!! Ahhhh!!!! I’m so happy this is finally out!!!! Thank you to Noonie Bao, Linus Wiklund, A.G. Cook, Nömak and Geoff Swan too!!!! ”
