Flint Eastwood Premieres New Music Video for “Fire” featuring Sam Austins
Detroit-based alt-pop singer-songwriter Jax Anderson, aka Flint Eastwood released her fourth EP “This Is a Coping Mechanism For a Broken Heart” on October 25th.
From the EP, she dropped a new music video for “Fire” featuring Detroit hip-hop artist Sam Austins. Directed by Jax Anderson herself.
The video was premiered exclusively on Billboard.
Jax Anderson said of the video,"It was a very raw time, and I wanted to represent it that way. For this (video) in particular I wanted it to feel intimate but also feel open and more in your face, not off-putting, but I wanted to convey the intensity I was feeling in the whole process."
“Fire” is the first track of the EP, mid-tempo synth-pop sound. "I think with 'Fire,' especially, it's about the time of a relationship when you start questioning everything," Jax Anderson told Billboard, "that moment of literally, fire. For a while, both knew things were fizzling out, so it's about that moment of knowing things were going to be over soon, but not sure when."
The EP comprises of 6-track, featuring guest appearances from Sam Austins, Siena Liggins, Shortly and Jaye Prime.
She crafted the EP over a two day.- She said of the EP on Facebook:
“I wrote these songs over a two day writing binge during an incredibly difficult time in my life. I arrived back home last fall after months of touring & realized that my relationships were in shambles, partly because of my schedule, partly because people grow in separate ways sometimes. For the first time in years I was physically & emotionally alone. I mustered enough mental energy to get out of bed & head to @assemblesound in hopes of running into some familiar faces. When I got there it was eerily quiet - which for a space that hosts 30 artists was a phenomenon on its own. I found a red light between some pews on my walk to my studio (strangely enough we believe my studio may have once been a confessional). I turned on the red light & began to sing over a synth sound @syblyng had on repeat. “You’re playing with fire...” was the line that leapt out of me first. After it was written, I still felt there was more to say. So we kept going. I locked myself in our tiny writer’s studio & wrote THIS IS A COPING MECHANISM FOR A BROKEN HEART in its entirety over the next 48 hours. Sometimes you gotta get some weight off your chest. I hope it helps you with loss as much as it has helped me.” - source : Billboard
