Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Swim Deep Releases New Song “Very Heaven”
British alt-pop band Swim Deep, consisting of Austin Williams (vocals/guitar), Cavan McCarthy (bass), James Balmont (keyboards), Robbie Wood (guitar) and Thomas 'Tomaski' Fiquet (drums), will release their fourth studio album “There's A Big Star Outside...” on June 7, 2024 via Submarine Cat Records.
The album is their first LP in five years since the 2019 album “Emerald Classics”, and comprises a 10-track, produced by Bill Ryder-Jones.
From the album, the band released the third single called “Very Heaven” on May 2, 2024.
The track was written by Austin Williams, Cavan McCarthy, James Balmont, Robbie Wood, and Thomas Fiquet. Produced by Bill Ryder-Jones.
The band frontman Austin Williams said of the song, “During one windy night in West Kirby, me and Bill (Ryder-Jones) sat in his local as the sideways rain stabbed our cheeks. We talked tipsily and candidly about everything from our Everton and Birmingham city woes, to the very reason we thought we made music in the first place, and opened up about what fated times dictated the melodies and lyrics that came out.”- He continued, “We swapped ideas and voice notes and he modestly showed me one which was the chorus of 'Very Heaven', to which I instantly thought was the greatest thing I'd ever heard. I couldn't wait to get back to my hotel so I could listen to it on repeat and pine about the song it could become. A song title taken from a William Wordsworth poem “Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive, but to be young was very heaven!”. Recording this song with the band at ICP was the highlight of the time there. A huge moment for us as a band.”

Not very good at taking compliments, but from the best writer out there, I might frame that one. Hope you're all enjoying the song.”
He added, “'Very Heaven' lyric video is out now. Such a beautiful animation vid by Olivia, the little girl with the telescope at the start made me especially emotional. It instantly triggered me to think of my own new born daughter, and what wonders and trials this world has for her. What stars she'll see, what sunsets she'll experience, what seasons she'll go through. Very Heaven, a song about love, life, and passing.”
