British pop/dance artist JASMINE IS released a new song “Love Of Money” on March 31, 2023.
The song is the second single off of her upcoming debut album “HEAR”, which is set to be released on May 19, 2023.
The track was written by JASMINE IS and produced by Philip Larsen.
“I sent Philip the song with a reference for the kind of feel I was after, a dance vibe,” JASMINE IS said of the song. “The inspiration for 'Love of Money' was someone I know who had an unhealthy obsession with money, spending lavishly, living hard and having nothing to show for it at the end of the day. It was an endless cycle trying to fill an emotional void with stuff, and of course, that never works. I liked the idea of a pop/dance track juxtaposed with the seriousness of the message: the insidious nature of greed.”- JASMINE IS made the album with Philip Larsen, but avoided phone and video calls, communicating only via messaging and the odd voice note while sending files backwards and forwards for the first year.
She explained, “The limitations caused by the pandemic and having to work remotely, actually suited me perfectly. After about a year working together, messaging only, I’d written a song that Philip composed a beautiful piano piece for, but when I heard it, it immediately sparked a completely different melody with a very different subject. As he was going to have to create something else, I decided it would be better to discuss things over the phone. That was the first time we spoke! And as for the first Zoom call, that took another 6 months! Thankfully, we’ve proved that working remotely and invisibly for the most part, doesn’t have to be detrimental to collaborating and creating music. But who knows, it’s entirely possible Philip and I may meet up one of these days..under a Vulcan! But that’s another story..” - source : Apple Music
