Miley Cyrus Performs “River” at Disney+ Backyard Sessions
American singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus performed “River” at Disney+ original special Backyard Sessions.
She filmed the live video in the backyard of the Los Angeles home where Frank Sinatra once lived.
Also, the house is the same location where she filmed the music video for “Flowers”.
The song is included on her eighth studio album “Endless Summer Vacation”, which was released March 10, 2023 via Columbia Records.
It was written by Miley Cyrus, Justin Tranter, Thomas Hull, and Tyler Johnson. Produced by Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson.
Miley Cyrus said of the song, “It was a time in my life where I was going through just a lot in my life emotionally and personally. And I guess all my songs kind of evolve, they could start as something that was a trouble, like it just feels like it's an April Shower, it never stops raining, and then it started raining down like love. “River,” sometimes we just need a dance floor banger, AKA they don't want me to talk about how the fact the song is about ***. It's nasty.”
Miley Cyrus said of the album, “Endless Summer Vacation represents, to me, my fearlessness when it comes to experimenting, not just with my sound but also with my identity and the way that I want to be seen. It feels like it's only mine and it could only be mine.”
She continued, “There's subtle shade. There's honesty and truth. Then there's some wisdom and there's some humor and there's some heaviness and depth,” she says. “It really represents who I am. And I feel that the greatest records that I've been able to make, or the greatest songs that I've been able to write, they do exactly that: They just really connect me and whoever's listening in a way that feels like an intimate, honest conversation.”
