Pharrell Williams Premieres New Song “Entrepreneur” featuring JAY-Z
American producer Pharrell Williams and rapper Jay-Z reunited on “Entrepreneur”, which was released on August 21st.
The accompanying music video features spotlights black men and women, who have started their own businesses. Directed by Calmatic. The track interpolates TLC's 1994 hit “Waterfalls”.
"Especially as someone of color, there's a lot of systemic disadvantages and purposeful blockages," Pharrell Williams said. "How can you get a fire started, or even the hope of an ember to start a fire, when you're starting at disadvantages with regards to health care, education, and representation?” He added, “The song is trying to communicate that when we stick together, treat each other better and welcome each other, there's more money and more opportunity for everyone.”
Also, Pharrell Williams worked with TIME magazine for a cover package called 'The New American Revolution', which includes interviews with Tyler, The Creator, Angela Davis and more following the global Black Lives Matter movement this summer.
