Lauren Jauregui Premieres New Song “Expectations”
Former Fifth Harmony Lauren Jauregui has unveiled her debut solo song “Expectations” with accompanying music video.
She wrote the song and worked with producer Kid Harpoon. Black-and-white music video was directed by Lauren Dunn.
The song will appear on her solo debut album, which us set to be released in early 2019 and is mid-tempo R&B featuring wild guitar solo.
“Everything feels so surreal,” Lauren Jauregui said in a press release. “I’m so grateful to have been able to be so immersed in this creative process and give the world a piece of my heart. I’m excited to see its reception and continue to grow and create and share with you all.”
For the debut album, she has been in the studio with the likes of Khaled Rohaim, Illangelo, Kid Harpoon, King Henry, Ilsey Juber and Alex Hope.- The song is one of the three songs that premiered on Jauregui’s support slot on Halsey’s 2018 Hopeless Fountain Kingdom Tour in Latin America.
Sha said, "Ever since I wrote it, it’s kind of had this magic to me that was particular and special, and when I went on tour with Ash[ley Frangipane a.k.a. Halsey], it kind of confirmed it. The way that people reacted to it, the fact that the first time I ever performed it was completely unreleased and by the end of the song people from a foreign country who don’t even natively speak English were singing along to the words and knew the words to the chorus. And that, to me, is usually when I fuck with a song. If I can finish the chorus by the end of it? That’s probably something that I’m going to listen to again and repeat and put into a playlist and stuff. So the fact that people reacted like that to something I wrote, that was so genuinely written and that I was so hands on with, was just such a special feeling.
